The objective of this research proposal is to further prove the concept that peptide mimics of the protective epitopes of PI-LPS are sufficient to confer protective immunity against C. burnetii aerosol infection. The Role of Follistatin Like-1 Protein in Coronary Aneurisms of Kawasaki Disease

The major goal of this project, using a model of Kawasaki disease in mice, is to selectively turn off the FSTL-1 gene at different times during the onset and development of the disease, and evaluate if, and how, FSTL-1 affects the heart damage seen in Kawasaki disease in order to develop an effective treatment strategy for Kawasaki disease's long term effects.
