This Cowles Fellowship donation will bring Dr. Sukhvinder Singh to Texas Biomed to hone his skills as an HIV researcher. In particular he would like to explore HIV latency as an obstacle to complete eradication of the virus. His projects hypothesis is that the long non-coding RNAs (LncRNA), plays a role in the establishment of HIV latency. We have designed a systematic and multidimensional approach to address this hypothesis. This project is an opportunity for training in exciting research avenues like the non-coding RNAs, high-throughput sequencing technologies, gene manipulation and editing.
