Healthcare Utilization Patterns In Patients With Lower Extremity Injuries
The purpose of this study will be to analyze patterns of care for patients sustaining lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries within the Military Health System (MHS). Prognostic variables associated with increased injury-specific healthcare utilization and costs will be identified. The aim will be to identify optimal care management pathways associated with decreased rate of recurrence (first treatments, first provider seen, first choices for care made), and mitigate risk for downstream adverse events (surgery, fracture, opioid dependency, etc). In summary, assessment of current care for lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries will be assessed, with the goal of identifying prognostic variables and optimal clinical pathways.
