The objective of this NACA is to perform the appropriate HPLC mass spectrometric analysis, using methods developed at UTSA, to determine the levels of diflubenzuron in blood/serum samples taken from cattle and white-tailed deer that have been fed a daily feed-through formulation containing 3% diflubenzuron.  After extraction and appropriate clean up prep of blood/serum samples, the level of diflubenzuron in cattle and white-tailed deer blood/serum will be analyzed using chromatography analysis by HPLC with UV detection or similar HPLC analysis.

Both parties are actively engaged in independent research projects which evaluates diflubenzuron and agree meeting the research milestones and objectives will have regional or national application. The Omnibus appropriations funding was provided for the Cattle Fever Tick Eradication Program (CFTEP) for research and scientific tools concentrating on the following: new systematic cattle fever tick treatment products with treatment intervals for cattle; new cattle fever tick treatment products for wildlife, especially nilgai antelope; and new or improved cattle fever tick preventative therapies, such as

vaccines, for both cattle and wildlife hosts.
