59th Medical Wing at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC)

The 59th Medical Wing at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC) provides support for research conducted by investigators and their collaborators addressing the unique scientific needs of the Air Force, the Department of Defense and the Nation. The 59th Medical Wing supports research to advance medical modernization efforts with a unique focus on research activities, and translational and clinical research to address Air Force unique, joint and coalition scientific needs in trauma critical care, clinical and rehabilitative medicine, diagnostics, therapeutics and medical modeling/simulation training.

Our mission is to conduct clinical studies and translational research, and apply knowledge gained to enhance performance, protect the force, and advance medical care and capabilities across the global health system. We advance Air Force Medical Service capabilities and improve medical equipment and procedures that support warfighters in the field and in garrison, in addition to their families and beneficiaries, by transforming scientific findings to best practices in the operational environment and at the patient bedside.
